Microsoft is ending the supports for Windows XP from 8 April 2014

Since from the last 12 years Microsoft has provided the support for the Windows XP. In order to steer users away from that 12 years old Operating System, Microsoft is not going to provide the latest security suit for the Windows XP users.

On Friday Microsoft rolled out  a pre-release build of Security Essentials which can’t be installed on a computer running Windows XP. The new security essential is is only compatible with the Windows Vista and higher version of Windows.  Microsoft has provided a link to the previous stable version of Security Essentials and advises Windows XP users to get that version instead.

"As a result, after April 8, 2014, technical assistance for Windows XP will no longer be available, including automatic updates that help protect your PC. Microsoft will also stop providing Microsoft Security Essentials for download on Windows XP on this date, (If you already have Microsoft Security Essentials installed, you will continue to receive antimalware signature updates for a limited time, but this does not mean that your PC will be secure because Microsoft will no longer be providing security updates to help protect your PC.)” Microsoft news.

There are still many schools, Banks and also some Government offices, etc. who were still using the Windows XP. If the user will continue using the Windows XP after supports ends your PCs will still work and may become more vulnerable to security risk and viruses.

From April 8, 2014, support and updates for Windows XP will no longer be available. Don't let your PC go unprotected, get your PC Update and use some higher version of Windows.
